Recorders built climate neutral

In 2012 the companies of the Kunath Group moved to the company building at Am Ried 7 in Fulda. One of the first decisions was to have a 45.25 kWp photovoltaic system installed on the south side of the roof. Over the past 8 years, this system has generated electricity almost unnoticed and continuously.

The goal of the company management was to keep the energy consumption constant or even to reduce it despite the growing production and employee numbers. The current evaluation of the energy consumption shows that in the years 2018 and 2019, 68% of the electricity demand (including heating) was covered by the company's own solar system.  This means that over half of the energy invested in the instruments and services comes from solar power.

The group buys the remaining energy from green electricity generated in the region. The charging points for electric cars installed on the company's premises are also powered by green electricity from the region.

This makes the Kunath Group one of the industry leaders in this field as well.

According to the company's mission statement "The better is the enemy of the good", this level is also to be exceeded.

In November 2020, it was decided to build another - even larger - solar plant on the north side of the flat roof. 10 years ago such a decision would not have made sense, but due to technical progress this plant will, according to conservative calculations, generate about 30% more electricity than the existing plant, so that significantly more electricity can be generated than the companies need. This energy will further improve the ecological footprint of the manufactured instruments and services.

Weather permitting, assembly work on the plant is scheduled to begin in spring of 2021.

Kunath Group employees want all musicians who play "our" instruments to always know that "my" instrument was made with a great deal of love for music and the environment.
