Discover the future of recorder playing

The sigo recorder breaks new ground.

With a new construction method that has never been used before in the world of recorders, sigo is setting new standards in terms of playing enjoyment. This innovative recorder is aimed at music lovers of all ages - whether beginners or ambitious amateur musicians.

From copy&paste to create. It's time for a new design.

Sigo stands out not only because of its new design, but much more because of its ergonomics, which astonish and inspire.
In contrast to conventional recorders, which are largely copies of historical models, Sigo combines important characteristics of well-known recorders with a completely new feature. But this detail has it all.

The instrument will be unveiled at lifem in London on 14 November 2024 - an event not to be missed.

A new definition of the recorder

Sigo promises a completely new playing experience. Thanks to its special construction method, it opens up new possibilities for use that will inspire both beginners and advanced players.
The fascinating details of the new series will be unveiled during the presentation at lifem, but we can already guarantee that sigo will significantly expand the possibilities of recorder playing.

New possibilities for recorder playing - with sigo

The future needs a past. That's why sigo builds on the most important features of existing recorder models such as blowing technique and fingering. This means that people who already play the recorder can pick up sigo and immediately benefit from its advantages - intuitively.

Sigo enables direct contact with the tone holes and therefore more nuanced playing.

From January 2025, music schools and general education schools will have the opportunity to apply to participate as a pilot school and receive special support - a great chance to become part of this exciting development.

Availability and distribution

Sigo recorders will be available in music stores from January 2025.

Sigo tenor recorder, baroque double hole, 442 Hz, Resona black
... away from "copy & paste" and towards "create". While the recorder models that are played today are based on the ideas of historical instrument makers such as Rottenburgh, Denner, Kynseker, Bressan and others, sigo goes its own way. Sigo is a recorder model series that was developed in collaboration between Kunath Instrumentenbau and Geri Bollinger, one of Europe's leading recorder makers. The tenor instrument 5405-072 has almost the same grip width as a soprano (descant) recorder. The angled headjoint and the thumb rest integrated into the mould make sigo particularly ergonomic. The body and head are made of RESONA, a material developed by Kunath Instrumentenbau from renewable raw materials. As the sigo scale is folded, the instrument sounds just as deep, even though it is shorter than a normal tenor flute. The matt surface of the lower body and the thumb rest integrated into the shape make the instrument exceptionally comfortable to play.
