In co-operation with Waldorf teachers we have developed a totally new instrument system.

An example:
In the first grade you purchase the Penta (five tone) combi recorder (440Hz or 432 Hz).
When it is time to change to the soprano recorder you only need to order the lower section; you continue to use the mouthpiece.
The Penta section can then be passed on to a first grader,a brother or a sister. This system is absolutely hygienic and saves money.

Due to the sound strip® (Klangstreifen®) the instrument sounds quieter and softer than comparable recorders.
In just a few steps, teachers who are a little manually skilled can even adjust the volume according to their own wishes. Should the recorder be later required for solo work it can be changed back to normal volume in less than five minutes. However, this adjustment cannot be made by children because the sound strip® is hidden in the windway and connected to the instument.
Practical design
There are no single parts which could disappear!
The small fingerhole for right hand is smaller than usual to allow easier fingering.
The sturdy construction guarantees that the recorder withstands daily wear and tear at school. Playing the recorder can then be real fun!
Using the combi recorder in the classroom
The fingering of the Penta lower section is the same as that used by other manufacturers. The combi recorder can therefore be used in in class together with other makes of recorder.
Naturally we take extreme care that the pitch is exact!!!

The basic principle is that the mouthpiece fits every lower section, regardless of the pitch or fingering, and regardless of whether it is a penta or soprano lower section.
By combining the mouthpiece with different lower sections you can put together several types of instrument.
Because the mouthpiece is the most expensive part of the instrument the change to a soprano recorder is much less costly than before. This really is good for your pocket !
